Dear Pre-K Parents,
Our program begins on Monday, September 11th, 2023. Your child is able to ride the bus to and from school or they can get dropped off or picked up. Contact the bus garage if you want your child added to the bus route. Door number 4 on the South side of the building is a safe drop off and pick-up location.
Our program is Monday-Thursday, 8:15-3:00 pm. If you choose to drop off your child, my door is open at 8:00 am. If your child rides the bus, one staff member from my room is standing outside and/or by the elementary doors when they come in.
Breakfast and lunch will be free of charge for the 2023-2024 school year. However, we do ask that you pack a snack daily for your child. This can be in bulk and left in your child’s locker, or sent daily in their backpack. Your child is able to get a milk at the school for snack time. The charge will be 0.35 daily. This money can be put into their school account. Talk to Jill Olson about setting up an account for your child.
Your child will need a full change of clothing to put in their locker. Gallon Ziploc bag works well with their name labeled. Even if your child is potty trained we do have accidents with milk, or getting wet on the playground and water table.
Birthday’s are celebrated in our classroom and your child is able to bring treats for their classmates. We only ask that it is store bought items only. I will let you know if we have any allergies when I know more about my students.
We have rest time daily for an hour. Your child will need a blanket from home. We have soft mats for each student. Many of your children don’t take naps anymore, we realize this and we ask that they lay and rest, but don’t have to sleep. It’s been proven that children need that down time to relax their bodies and minds. We have very busy days and some will be surprised to find out that their child does actually fall asleep. We play relaxing music during this time.
I will be creating a Pre-K Facebook page soon that will have information posted, as well as photos of your child. Please let me know if you don’t want your child’s photo posted to the site or shared with the school for the yearbook or newspaper.
Our Open House-Meet the Teacher is yet TBD. I may be doing a 3-day professional development training and that would conflict with the K-6th Open House date of August 29th. This is something I will post to the Facebook page when I know more information.
