DROP OFF/PICK-UP INFORMATION

If you have elected to transport your child to and from school, here are a few important points:

  • Please use the north service road (behind the arena) and  follow all parking and traffic signs when dropping off your student from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. or picking up from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. when the bus lane will be off limits.
  • Students in grades 1 -12 should be dropped off/ picked up at entrances #9 and #10 on the northside of the commons.
  • If you are picking up during the day only the main commons entrance will be available and students must be signed out in the main office.

Rules at the Bus Stop

  1. Get to your bus stop five minutes before your scheduled pick up time. The school bus driver will not wait for late students.
  2. Respect the property of others while waiting at your bus stop.
  3. Keep your arms, legs and belongings to yourself.
  4. Use appropriate language.
  5. Stay away from the street, road or highway when waiting for the bus.
  6. Wait until the bus stops before approaching the bus.
  7. After getting off the bus, move away from the bus.
  8. If you must cross the street, always cross in front of the bus where the driver can see you. Wait for the diver to signal to you before crossing the street.
  9. No fighting, harassment, intimidation or horseplay.
  10. No use of alcohol, tobacco or drugs.

Rules on the Bus

  1. Immediately follow the directions of the bus driver.
  2. Sit in your seat facing forward.
  3. Talk quietly and use appropriate language.
  4. Keep all parts of your body inside the bus.
  5. Keep your arms, legs and belongings to yourself.
  6. No fighting, harassment, intimidation or horseplay.
  7. Do not throw any object.
  8. No eating, drinking or use of tobacco or drugs.
  9. Do not bring any weapons or dangerous objects on the school bus.
  10. Do not damage the school bus.

Bus drivers are empowered to strictly enforce safe and healthy behavior on the bus as well as the requirements of dress to enter the bus. Since riding a bus is a privilege, that privilege will be suspended or removed if circumstances warrant.

The bus drivers are charged with the transportation of students in a safe and enjoyable manner. The drivers are also responsible for the discipline on the bus. When behavior jeopardizes the safety and well being of other students, the drivers must take action. The actions that is taken by the bus driver is:

  • First offense: Parents are notified. Student receives oral warning.
  • Second Offense: Parents are notified with written warning to student.
  • Third Offense: Student loses riding privileges for 5 days.
  • Fourth Offense: Student loses riding privileges for the year.
  • A serious infraction could result in an immediate loss of riding privileges.

A School Bus Incident Report is sent to parents each time an incident occurs. A discussion with the parent/guardians will occur with each incident. A copy of the report is filed with the principal and the bus supervisor. The bus driver may seek counsel from the principal. However, the ultimate authority rests with the driver. If an issue cannot be satisfactorily resolved between the driver and the parent/guardian or child, the transportation supervisor is to be called.
